This class is designed for beginning to intermediate students. Some background in drawing can be helpful. This class will provide hands on instruction in preparing surfaces, color mixing, drawing and fixing. We will use a variety of techniques from underpainting to creating watercolor backgrounds. Students in this class will work from still life setups, live portrait models, and photographs.Two basic types of pastel painting will be explored, soft pastel and oil pastel. The types and quality of each kind of pastel can vary. In the class we will discuss the many differences of pastels and surfaces and may decide to obtain some of the different types and quality of materials.
