Join us for the opening reception for Black Masks Exhibition: A 40 Year Celebration!, a special exhibition honoring Dr. Beth Turner and her extraordinary legacy as the visionary publisher of Black Masks magazine. The exhibition will be on view from June 6 through August 29, 2026, at the Foster Tanner Fine Arts Gallery on the campus of Florida A&M University.

This exhibition commemorates 40 years of Black Masks magazine and its profound impact on the arts community. Visitors will experience a dynamic showcase featuring larger-than-life reproductions of iconic magazine covers, rare archival materials, and highlights from Dr. Turner’s distinguished career. Spanning both floors of the gallery, the exhibition offers an immersive journey through the publication’s history, its celebration of Black artistry, and its enduring influence on creative expression.

A special opening reception and program will take place on Saturday, June 6, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., bringing together artists, scholars, students, and community members to honor Dr. Turner’s contributions. The program will include reflections on her legacy and the cultural significance of Black Masks magazine.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. Community members, students, and visitors are encouraged to attend and experience this landmark celebration of artistic legacy and cultural impact.
