On October 14 and 15, FSU Libraries and the Museum of Fine Arts will present an “Interdisciplinary Arts & Humanities Symposium,” a two-day event exploring the history, culture, and significance of print media through scholarship, collections, artistic practice, and public engagement.

The first day features the “Art for the Masses: A Celebration of Print” Symposium Panel, hosted at Strozier Library’s Bradley Room, from 1:00–5:00 PM. The symposium will include two sessions with talks by Denise Bookwalter (Art), Dr. Michelle Bumatay (Modern Languages), Dr. Lindsey Eckert (English), and Dr. Sonia Hazard (Religion), from across FSU’s Arts and Humanities departments, whose research engages print culture from diverse disciplinary perspectives. The day will conclude with a coffee reception and remarks from local collector Dr. Patrick M. Rowe, whose work is  featured in MoFA's current exhibition “Friendly Arbitration: Honoré Daumier on Crime, Justice, and Punishment.”

The second day, hosted at MoFA, connects scholarly discussion with hands-on engagement through collaborative artmaking and exploration of the printmaking process. This will take form as a drop-in Make it with MoFA: Pronto Plate Lithography, running from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. That evening, join us in MoFA’s Lower Galleries for a reception with refreshments and curator-led tours of "Friendly Arbitration" from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. All materials will be provided, and parking will be available in the Call Street Garage in any white-lined space.
