Sewing 1: Fundamentals & Essentials | Ages 12 through adult | Mondays at 5:00 PM

Learn to sew in a welcoming, hands-on class designed for beginners. Students learn how to operate a sewing machine, thread a needle, sew by hand, attach buttons, select appropriate tools and materials, and complete original projects.

Sewing 1 gives students the foundational skills and confidence needed to begin creating and repairing clothing, accessories, costumes, and other fabric projects. No previous sewing experience is required.

Sewing 2: Construction Techniques | Ages 12 through adult | Tuesdays at 5:00 PM

Students build on their foundational sewing skills while learning how individual pieces come together to create finished garments and theatrical costumes. The class explores pattern reading, fabric selection, machine sewing, hand stitching, construction techniques, fitting, and finishing details.

Projects may include wearable pieces, accessories, and costumes connected to Making Light productions. Students need a strong foundation in beginner sewing techniques.

Homeschool Stagecraft & Costuming | Ages 10–18 | Tuesdays at 12:30 PM

Homeschool students explore the creative and technical work that brings theatrical productions to life. Through hands-on projects, students learn about costume design and construction, props, scenic design, stagecraft, dramaturgy, and production planning.

Students develop practical artistic and problem-solving skills while discovering how designers and technicians work together to create the world of a production. No previous theatre or sewing experience is required.
