“Tallahassee is a special place to live” by Bill and Carol Boynton

What’s so great about Tallahassee?  We recently came to see for ourselves.

We were finalists in a contest sponsored by “Choose Tallahassee” aimed at attracting baby boomers to relocate to Florida’s state capital.

What did we find? We found a vibrant city filled with energy and enthusiasm.  We awoke to a downtown marketplace setting up across the street.  We drove along canopy roads. We walked hiking trails with people of all ages.  We wore shorts in November while friends were shivering in New Hampshire.

We found a city immersed in cultural offerings that on just one weekend featured opera at FSU, a German Christmas festival at a popular senior center, and a rock and roll jam at an antebellum plantation.  We discovered a city that treasures both its past (Mission San Luis) and its natural environment (Tallahassee Museum). We dined at a once shuttered utility next to a unique park that’s an urban model for others to follow But most of all, we found a community of welcoming and friendly people who love Tallahassee, who were anxious to share it with us, and who convinced us it’s a special place to live.
